The Big 2018 Church Sofa List of Favourite Things

As 2018 draws to a close, I’m going to steal some some inspiration from a recent Facebook post from Barack Obama, and share some bits and pieces I’ve enjoyed seeing / reading / listening to over the last 12 months. They’ve all particularly inspired, or held my attention in some way.

There will also be Church Sofa highlights thrown in there as well.

There may well be affiliate links thrown in to the mix, but if you dont know any of the below I’d encourage you to check it all out.

What are your highpoints from 2018?

When Pastor Jim Bakker Gets Concerned About Bowel Movements

Yes…It seems that Pastor Jim Bakker sells “apocalypse food“, which comes in buckets large enough to serve other functions… then just food storage…

And yes… the video may be a little edited*, but I guess that doesn’t stop the central message from being less gross.

*I hope its been edited, and what is shown doesn’t actually come across as this creepy.

When Jesus Joins The Santa Run

Have you got a Santa Run near you?

The thing where people dress up as Santa, and go for a run. (Typing it up, I cant help but wonder why people would do that but anyway…)

I mean why dress up as Santa on a Santa run when you could run as Jesus on a Cross…

Wouldn’t dressing up as an Angel, Shepherd, Mary, or a Baby in a Manger be a bit more Christmassy?

Safe Christian Conversations At Christmas

Welcome to Christmas! A Time of peace, harmony, and good will to all men.

This during a time where countries all around the world seem split more then normal. (eg. I personally think that Brexit is a silly word) Against the backdrop of national and international splits, there are the gatherings of family from all corners of the country, and political spectrums. These families are around a table, having an amazing meal. The problem with this picture is that there are times when you’re not eating, and you are generally meant to be talking… or something.

So what should we be talking about? In a year where it seems that many countries are divided about… something, what is safe to be talked about at Christmas time?

Its not like Christians can find enough to argue about anyway.

Here are our ideas for safe – family friendly – Christmas Dinner conversations.

Is there anything you would add to this list?
