The Youthclub Diaries: One Year On.

A long ago (9th March 2010)  – on a blog far far away, I wrote down the following comments:

I don’t know…

We rejig youthclub, the overal reaction to a non structured club seems to be well recieved. But it still feels like a battle… and I’m kinda tired of it…

As part of this we somehow seemed to have dropped the bible talk. Tonight I’ve felt quite challenged about this – whats the difference between us and a non-Christian youth club?

So how do we fix it…

I don’t know…

Less then two weeks later… we stopped it.

It was with the idea of relaunching the youthclub for the second half of the Summer Term on a trial basis. We made a few tweaks to the setup, different times, different approach to any spiritual input, different discipline system, and I’m sure a few other bits and pieces. I remember thinking at the time that I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing.

We’re still going after a year  – and by Gods Grace… its fantastic. We have a fantastic relationship with the young people coming along, they’re asking questions about what we believe – the whole thing just (mostly) feels fun.

And I still feel like I’m making it up as I go along….
