Whilst we’ve been putting together our guide to church, its been commented by some that we should take a look at “The Creed”. Now to begin with, we were a little confused as to why a guide to church should include a chapter on an american rock band… then we realised that we should be looking at… as wikipedia puts:

creed is a statement of belief—usually a statement of faith that describes the beliefs shared by a religious community—and is often recited as part of a religious service.

Basically its the part of the service where the congregation generally stand, and say something like the below together:

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen
